Kampala Uganda,  April 2026 – It is “that time again”—the time for our routine field visits to observe the progress of our students during their internship placements. This season, we are incredibly proud to highlight our new partnership with the Black Market Studio while following the steps of Francis Okello, a film production student.

Placing a student in a studio as busy and demanding as Black Market is no small feat. It requires a level of readiness that goes beyond technical skill. We are thrilled to report that our student, Okello Francis, who has been with the studio for eight weeks now, has undergone a remarkable transformation.

From Enthusiastic Student to Industry-Ready Professional

When Francis first joined Mediavision Academy, he was a brilliant and enthusiastic learner dreaming of making it big in the film sector. He actively participated in almost every theory and practical class to make sure he does not miss out on the basics. Today, he is a fully developed individual, battle-tested and ready for the competitive marketplace.

Beyond mastering the technical nuances of audio-visual production, Francis has refined the “soft skills” that truly define a professional: time management, goal orientation, reliability, and the ability to be a cohesive team player. When we asked Francis about his experience, he noted that every lesson learned at Mediavision Academy—every deadline, every project, and every classroom challenge—perfectly prepared him for the real-world demands of Black Market Studio.

Why Internships Matter

This is precisely why internship programs are the heartbeat of our curriculum at Mediavision Academy. Seeing our students thrive under the pressure of real deadlines proves that our methodology works.

During our visit, we had the honor of speaking with his supervisor, Siraje Sserunjogi, one of Uganda’s most respected filmmakers and a firm believer in the Mediavision vision. He shared some encouraging words:

“Francis is ready for the market. He is a humble young man who learns quickly, loves what he does, and he is clearly in the right hands with Mediavision.”  We love the conduct of students from Mediavision Academy.  Our studio is open to more students.

Our Director of Studies, Aloyo Annet, who accompanied us on the visit, was deeply impressed by the glowing reports from the team at Black Market. We are profoundly grateful to the entire team for welcoming our student; we know that many studios shy away from interns, fearing the learning curve. Thank you, Black Market Studio, for seeing the potential in our students and providing the environment where they can grow.
