A Delegation from Mediavision Academy Meets Hon. Nobert Mao

Kampala 31, January 2025.

On Thursday 30th January 2025,  Mediavision Academy delegation had the privilege of meeting Honorable Norbert Mao at his office on Parliamentary Avenue. The meeting was an inspiring exchange of ideas that could catalyze growth in Uganda’s film industry.

In a jovial atmosphere, Hon. Mao shared his vision for the creative sector, drawing from his own experiences in the industry. He recounted his contribution to the creation of a powerful film that narrated the harrowing story of night commuters during the Kony insurgency in Northern Uganda. This personal experience highlighted the impact that storytelling can have on society, using film as a medium for social change.

Discussions delved into Mediavision Academy’s milestones since inception in 2014 and potential collaboration with government to elevate the creative industry. Hon. Mao emphasized the need for a united front to harness the talents of young filmmakers and storytellers.

“By leveraging the power of film, we can address pressing social issues, promote cultural heritage, and inspire positive change,” said the The Honorable Minister. He encouraged filmmakers to explore these avenues, highlighting the role of film in community empowerment and development.

The Director and Founder of Mediavision Academy Nkambo Robert commended Hon. Mao for his commitment to supporting the creative sector. In turn, Hon. Mao encouraged the Academy and its followers to tap into the opportunities presented by the Parish Development Model (PDM). This initiative aims to enhance local economies and improve livelihoods, and the integration of creative projects could play a pivotal role in its success.
