“Welcome to our stall”, Ms. Shamin Mugisha the Officer Content Development at Uganda Communications Commission (UCC)” told Mr. Robert Nkambo, Mediavision Academy Director, his collaborators and students as they were making their way to the UCC’s stand at the 30th Uganda International Trade Fair 2024. The main theme this year is: “Celebrating 30 Years of Industrial Excellence.”
Held at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) grounds, the fair that started on 4th October and will close its doors on 10th October 2024, has attracted a diverse range of exhibitors, including local businesses, international companies, and various government agencies. UCC, the government regulatory body of the communications sector in Uganda, displayed a fascinating exhibition of the Ugandan film production value chain. The display included renown film stars interacting with the public. In addition, UCC ushered the public to a 3D cinema experience for a Ugandan movie. For the first time in history Ugandan cinema has been exhibited in this trade fair. This move by UCC will go a long way to promote Ugandan local content to the general public.
Mediavision Academy has partnered with UCC to promote loca film in different regions of the country. This collaboration aims to enhance local content production and capacity building for aspiring filmmakers to boost the creative industry. The presence of the Mediavision Academy team at the Fair aimed to strengthen partnerships and gain insights into the latest trends in the film sector. Engaging with UCC and its staff at the event is a way to continue to seek to empower talent, especially youth and elevate Uganda’s film landscape.
“The Ugandan Trade Fair has stood in testimony to the resilience innovativeness, and determination of our country’s manufacturers and traders” said Hon. Francis Mwebesa, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperative. The Mediavision Academy staff participated actively, gathering information that could be beneficial for their students and the broader community.
Overall, the visit to the Uganda International Trade Fair was a fruitful experience for the Mediavision Academy team. It not only reinforced their commitment to fostering film industry connections but also highlighted the importance of staying updated with market trends to better prepare their students for future challenges in the film landscape.#
