Shantos Ssekitto praises Mediavision Academy at Film Club Uganda Fellowship

Renowned film sound mixer Shantos Ssekitto commended Mediavision Academy for its tireless dedication to nurturing young professionals in the film industry over the past ten years. His heartfelt praise came during the vibrant weekly Film Club fellowship held every Tuesday at the National Theatre, where filmmakers from all walks of life come together to share knowledge, passion, and inspiration. With 17 years of experience as a professional production sound engineer, Shantos knows the film industry inside out. He took the opportunity to provide invaluable insights into the world of sound mixing, emphasizing that “film sound is half the picture” and is crucial for delivering a captivating cinematic experience. For aspiring sound mixers and film enthusiasts, his advice was clear: hone your craft and remain committed to excellence. It was a call to action that resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom have already begun their journeys in the film industry, inspired by organizations like Mediavision Academy.
Shantos’ remarkable journey of mentorship began in 2017, when he was approached by the founder and director of Mediavision Academy Nkambo Robert, to teach sound mixing classes. His willingness to share his expertise has since paved the way for a new generation of sound professionals who are now making their mark on the silver screen. As we celebrate Mediavision Academy’s ten-year anniversary, it’s essential to acknowledge the crucial role mentors like Shantos play in shaping the future of film—a future filled with promise, innovation, and creativity.
Highlighting the synergy between the Film Club Uganda and Mediavision Academy, President Allie Mutaaka praised collaborative efforts in building the capacity of film enthusiasts across the nation. The film club serves as a vibrant hub for hosting events, organizing meaningful projects, and fostering socialization among aspiring filmmakers. It’s a place where creativity flourishes, connections are made, and dreams are ignited.
The Vice President Godfrey Musinguzi of the Film Club encouraged filmmakers and fans to join the fellowship every Tuesday, emphasizing the warmth and excitement that comes from sharing a passion for film. “This is the best way to unite within our community,” he stated, as he invited everyone to be part of this wonderful journey in the film industry.
In an interview, Nkambo Robert the director and founder of Mediavision Academy affirmed continued collaboration with the Film Club Uganda and other stakeholders, to empower the next generation of filmmakers. There is always room for anyone passionate about film within the club, and the journey of creativity, collaboration, and mentorship is just beginning!
